The Skinny: There is so much to see in Kerry, but our main goals for this weekend getaway were to go to Dingle (my first trip there) and to see the Kerry Cliffs. Mission accomplished, with some serious fish chowder and perfect pints along the way. We drove to Killarney from Dublin in the late afternoon, a four-hour drive including gas stops at such establishments as Barack Obama Plaza (if you're American, this is a can't-miss). We checked in at Asheville House, a classic B&B just a few...

Preface: A couple of weeks before my birthday this year, Aidan told me to take the day (a Monday) off work but wouldn’t tell me why. An entire surprise weekend? I was in girlfriend heaven. So, naturally, I had to sabotage my own bliss by constantly asking him where we were going. He stayed strong for a week, until one night he was reading his travel calendar for the month aloud while I was in the other room and let slip, “and then the weekend in Mexico”. Mexico?...

The Skinny: You won't see it all, but you can do Rome in two days. Arrive very hungry with very comfortable shoes on. This itinerary is heavy on the walking and heavy on the eating. You can get by in most places speaking English, but it helps to learn some basic Italian phrases before visiting Roma. When in doubt, “prego” means whatever you want it to mean. Lastly, if you’re flying Ryanair you might fly into one airport in Rome and out of another, so don’t be us and take...

Preface: I’m embarking on the ultimate itinerary challenge here by cramming four years of living in and deeply loving Austin, Texas into five doable days. Aidan and I both have a serious affection for this place and as we near our departure for our next chapter in Ireland, we’re still attempting to check some boxes on our ATX bucket lists. The thing about an Austin bucket list is that it never shortens. The harder your work at it, driven by constant FOMO, the quicker more things get added....

Note: We flew to Seattle instead of Portland because it was way cheaper, rented a car at the airport, and drove straight to Portlandia from there.

Monday: Portland

Check in at your Airbnb. We loved this little cottage ($73/night) walking distance from Mississippi Ave. If you have more time in Portland than we did, we also highly recommend staying at the Kennedy School. It’s the coolest. Shout out to our McMeniman friends!

Cheap stopover flights through Reykjavik to the UK and other parts of Europe have become all the rage, and they’re a brilliant marketing tactic on Iceland’s part. Aidan, his sister Maddy and I were booking a trip to Ireland for June 2016 and immediately said yes to 48 hours in Iceland the second we saw one of these deals with WOW airlines. Don’t let the name scare you, the flight was very pink and otherwise completely fine. We flew through Iceland at the start of our trip and...

Place: Cuba (Havana & Vinales)
Days: 6
Cost: $600 / person (airfare not included)

Friday: Arrive in Havana (we arrived in the early evening)

- Take a taxi from the airport to your Airbnb in Habana Vieja (Old Havana). We stayed here for $30/night and it was fine (hostel style with a breakfast you have to pay for separately that is not worth it,) but you can certainly spend more for more comfortable digs.
- Drop off your things and take a taxi to dinner in Miramar....
